Lost & Found

One recent morning, I drove to work as usual, taking the road I have known for years.  As I started out, the day was cool and threatened rain, but as the morning passed the sky cleared and it grew increasingly hot.  Approaching noon, a spur of the moment decision, I decided to go home to peep on Ian but took a not so familiar shortcut- a ‘less traveled road’ – I thought a new scene would do no harm! At least it would freshened up my rather groggy mind that day.  However, as I was driving thru, I found myself lost…   Not lost in the way a person could find themselves out at sea, but in that, looking out at the world, I saw nothing I recognized… no familiar landmark of any kind.  It was the strangest feeling!  I wondered out loud, “where am I?”, and noticed something ahead of me, a crossroad.  It was puzzling as I did not have any idea how I got there, no that the road leading to somewhere futile was beyond reachable … Well, I took a pick and drove yonder … and I was found!  Not in the way you will find me at home or at my desk, but found in the place where a certain harmony is known – restored… and tension has no purpose.  It was a matter of time before I returned to the familiar, but that day I was no longer lost in any way that matters.
